Girls

Publication: Melbourne Herald

Mr Edwin Lee Neil, managing director of Myers Pty. Ltd., says that there is plenty of room in Australia for girls, where they can afford to pick and choose.

If there's any man for whom we feel
    A special admiration,
It surely must be Mr Neil
    For this glad declaration.
The stodgy politician who
    Wants long on immigration
Will find he has no work to do
    After this inspiration.

Girls! Girls!
There's plenty of room for the
    girls!
The short ones, the small ones,
The fat ones, the tall ones,
The bobbed ones and those with
    cunning curls.
Send 'em by the shipload!
There's plenty work to do
For Beth and Bess and Jane and Jess
And Ann and Emma too.

We'll let 'em pick; we'll let 'em
    choose
    Just any occupation,
For Liz and Lil and Joan and
    Jill.
    Are assets to the nation;
And many a man who wins a
    bride
Because of immigration,
He yet may feel for Mr Neil
    Unbounded admiration.

Girls! Girls!
There's plenty of room for girls!
The dark ones, the fair ones,
The plain ones, the rare ones,
The peaches and the very perfect
    Send 'em by the shipload!
They'll make a fine appeal.
To Dave and Dick and Mat and
    Mick.
Hurrah for Mr Neil!
