Mr. Charlton, M.H.R., said yesterday that no fair minded person could say that the Labor party obstructed the Government. Later Mr. Earlie said declared that the Country Party had never been guilty of obstructive tactics.
Obstruct? Not yet! Why all this fuss? These silly accusations Give us much pain: We've sought to gain By straining our relations, We merely swiped them on the jaw Because they ought to make a law. If we do seek One day a week To raise a little ruction, And start to rouse Within the House, You can't call that obstruction, We simply banged them in the eyes Because election time is nigh. We never feel The nation's weal Demands our keen devotion; And that is why For motives high We move the censure motion. Obstruction? Nay! We only smite The Government to put them right. We're men of peace Who never cease To plead for keen, cool reason, And advocate The calm debate Both in and out of season. We only bash them now and then To show who are real earnest men. Obstruction? What? It's silly rot! This charge is unexpected. No Government Is heaven-sent: They have to be corrected. We merely smash their faces in To teach them consciousness of sin.
