Operatic Adaptation
An operatic version of The Sentimental Bloke premiered at the Grand Opera House Sydney on 2 Oct 1926 and running until 29 Oct. It starred Fred McDonald as the Bloke, Dulcie Cherry as Doreen, and Bert Bailey as Ginger Mick.
The production does not appear to have achieved long-term success or significant touring, but it remains an interesting example of early experimentation with Australian literary material in operatic form.
