I want to acknowledge the lifetime’s work done by both Ian McLaren and Perry Middlemiss in collating and curating the complete works of C J Dennis.

Between 1950 and 1980, Ian McLaren undertook extensive research into the life and publications of C. J. Dennis, with a particular focus on identifying and documenting Dennis’s output across newspapers, magazines, and book publications.

His work involved the systematic examination of primary sources and bibliographic records, enabling the reconstruction of a more complete and accurate catalogue of Dennis’s writings.

Working between 1980 and 2010, Perry Middlemiss played a crucial role in bringing Dennis’s work into the digital age. Through his comprehensive online archive, he assembled a vast collection of Dennis’s poems, verse, and related material, making them widely accessible to the public for the first time.

His work involved not only the gathering and transcription of texts, but also their organisation into a coherent and searchable structure, greatly enhancing their usability for readers and researchers alike.

This website acknowledges and gratefully builds upon the foundational work of these researchers, without which this project would not have been possible.
