The final session of the eighth Federal Parliament was opened by the Governor- General yesterday. The proceedings were mainly formal.

Dere frend,

I see be the papers that Parlyments
is opened.
I see that they gives us the usual dope
    and
The bowin an scrapin
The bendin an bobbin
aint there no escapin
these methods time robbin—
The backin an fillin an that sort of
    thing
why not open the ouse with a verse
(Might do worse)
Of God save the King
Peraps I aint wise to this play-
    actin lurk
why not get to work?

Now, up in the bush when we coling
    a ax
we dont call it bowin when we
    bends our backs
to eave the thing in
an yakker like sin
fer the ole uv our thorts is on doin
    the job
to gouge out the timber an earn a
    few bob
fer the wife an the kids
An the game fair forbids
All swank cere-many
our objeck is ony
to get the job done
in the light o the sun
but peraps as we all are just ignorant
    chaps
we dont get the ang of this bizness
    —peraps

Peraps when the nex time we're
    fallin a tree
We may get the govener up ere,
    maybe
An e'll start off the game
with a speech an the same
will tell the ole country wot we mean
    to do
an ow the tree started an ow the
    tree grew
an ow the trees goin to fall with a
    crash
To show that we're blokes with a bit
    of a dash
then we'll spit on our ands an we'll
    scrape an we'll bow
an the boss will say boys its too late
    anyhow
to fall the thing now
So pick up yer axe an go ome to
    roost
we aint done much graft but we've
    ad a big boost

Mind I aint sayin nothin against all
    the fuss
but I wants to point out that it wont
    do with us

yours truly Ben Boyang with luv
    frum the missis
an the whole forteen kids an the
