From Sam to Bill

While America is putting a high duty on wool and other Australian commodities, and is shutting out Australian emigrants, she has her eye upon a possible German trade invasion into this country and is pouring in goods which our tariff wall cannot shut out.

Say, bo, your bone-head stunts do make
me tired.

You think a Great Big Nation is re-
quired
To put up fights with little runts like
you?
Aw, shoo!

You talk of White Australia. Listen
here,
We’re up against black labor every
year.
But does it phase us? Aw, you simps,
you guys,
Wake up! Get wise!

If we was down there on your dinky
isle
We’d WORK, an’ make the tradin’
game worth while.
You hoboes don’t know that you are
alive.
In U.S.A. that busy little hive—
What’s that? You say you think we
have some go?
Believe me, you have said a mouthful
bo.

We got our politicians, same as you;
We got our crooks an’ our reformers,
too;
But do you think we let ’em rool the
roost?
Nix, Pardner! How’d you think we got
our boost?

They say we talk hot air. We ACT
as well,
An’ when you can’t make good—why
it’s just hell.
We learned to act, son, when we spilled
the tea
In Boston Harbor, an’, well, believe
me,

We’ve gone on larnin, till we have the
game.
Dead beat; an, friend, until you have
that same
Drive in your bone-head statesmen—
well, here’s luck!
You’re suckers, an’ we’re passing you
the buck.
