Scran

Lord Stradbroke visited the Newport Work- shop yesterday, and had lunch, which costs us.

We never serves 'im no hors darves
Or the tucker that 'e's uster—
No partridge truffed, nor olives
    stuffed.
Nor the wishbone of a rooster—
But just plain scran that the workin'
    man
Eats at 'is daily party.
An' 'e laps it up—that bite an' sup—
An' 'e seems to stoke reel 'earty.

We gives 'im beans an' beef an'
    greens
An' 'eaps of good brown gravy;
An' 'e sez to the bloke 'oo 'olds 'is
    cloak,
'E sez to 'im, "Look 'ere, Davy,
My ad-de-cong, this feed's tray bong
An' it costs less than a shillin'.
Let's come this way, say, every day?"
An' the cong, as 'e puts some pie
away,
'E sez, "Righto! I'm willin'."
