Letter by CJD to R.H. Croll 1914.04.03
Toolangi April 3/14
Dear Rob,
'Scuse haste. Have a s. story, 2 chunks verse, and a short play (political) all going at once, and am - haw - an extremely busy man.
Delighted to hear of my importance. Honestly, it does buck me up some despite a hard shell of cynicism regarding such things.
I am wishing the sports (?) to blazes, because I am full of good things and could work for a month without stopping. Also Fed. Parliament meets shortly and I shall be in the thick of it.
Autographed cards enclosed.
Have thought of good advertising schemes for Sent. Bloke. Will talk when I see you in a month if you don't come up in meantime.
Shall duplicate the political play when I type it and let you see a copy. How is the Olde Potte? Haven't heard from him lately. Hope he is better.
Yours Den
PS The "novel" grows - (in me block) I am waxing enthusiastic Can see great possibilities

Notes: The "Olde Potte" referred to is J. G. Roberts. The "novel" was never finished and, to the best of my knowledge, no fragment or copy of it exists. I cannot, at this time, identify "the political play" mentioned.
